In the Melting Ceramics project, extreme temperatures have been used as a defining characteristic. The Melting Ceramics series is the result of practice-based research on over-firing, and the excessive heat treatment of clay. These distorted vases affirm the unpredictability of over-firing in every uniquely distorted vase. The process of firing earthenware clay to a point at which the clay starts deforming and melting creates a watertight layer over the vases without the use of ceramic glaze.

After being fired, every vase that comes out of the kiln is unique and unrepeatable. These pieces capture an extremely fragile moment in which they have been exposed to temperatures at which they have molten and almost broken down in their material that is as hard as stone.
