In the MELT cabinets, industrially treated pine transforms into a unique art composition. The cabinet has been inspired by the metamorphosis of the movement of water. By melting, the ice again becomes liquid like rain. The surface of the cabinets is built up of hundreds and hundreds of pine rods which are glued together one at a time on multiple layers. The time-consuming working method enables to create the three-dimensional fluency on the surface.

The MELT collection examines the grooves formed by water in the soil and how liquid matter flows along various surfaces, forming lines and traces. Melting, heavy rains, and floods are strongly linked to climate change. However, the collection also reflects the beautiful natural forms of melting created by seasonal variations in Finland.

Untreated pine shows the natural aging with patina, scratches, dirt, and traces of use, while the stained and lacquered finishing keeps the surface more or less stable and unchanged.
